It's been a long time coming...

I love to collect quotes and I wanted to share one with you that means a lot to me, especially right now...

"I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality... I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word."

- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

We've definitely taken a step in the right direction as a society. However, I think it's disappointing that a majority of the black vote in California went to ban gay marriage per Proposition 8.

Back in the civil rights days, racists tried to use the Bible to make interracial marriage seem un-Godly, and here we are today where the same thing is happening to another disenfranchised population. This time with supporters who were quite recently disenfranchised themselves. I think it speaks to the selfishness of the human condition.

I agree. That is so disapointing. It is so sad that many people are just looking for "equal" rights for THEM and THEIRS, not for all. But, we have to remember that we are fighting for the people who do not think that way; We are fighting for people who agree with us that no human deserves anything less than be be treated with respect and honored with justice.
